Aerospace rockets, satellites, vehicles and living vessels have the need to control small amounts of fluids and gasses. To this end, small control valves are needed to proportion the fluids and gasses as needed for propulsion and environmental activities.Small valves fashioned specifically for each application is the norm. Such valves require specific springs with demanding features.
By using the HELI-CAL® Flexure in a single or double start configuration and adding attachment features, aerospace valves have been configured to meet the performance and minimum weight constraints imposed.

A response to low efficiency pumping systems involves the use spring-mass resonant arrangements that operate at the resonant frequency of a piston mass connected to a compression/extension spring.The first pumps used wire wound springs but were hindered by coil clashing creating noise, debris and low efficiency.
By using the HELI-CAL® Flexure in a double start configuration and adding attachment features, the problem resolved quickly. The Double Start Flexure allowed motion of the piston to be very straight, thus not needing guidance by energy robbing piston wall contact. The constant width slots typical in a machined spring prevent the coil contact typical in closed and ground wire wound springs. Operation of a resonant pump using Double Start Machined Springs is silent and efficient.
