Virtium Expands Their StorFly Industrial SSD Family with Their New NVMe 3D Nand-Based M.2 Drives

Maximum Capacity, Minimum Space - Industrial NVMe 3D-NAND M.2 SSDs by Virtium

Virtium’s new SSD line blends a high-speed interface, small form factor, and low running costs with extreme temperature tolerance for IIoT, M2M, and embedded-systems storage

Virtium, a leading provider of industrial solid-state drive (SSD) and memory solutions for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) market, today announced an expansion of its StorFly® family of industrial SSDs. The new line of StorFly drives combine the high-performance NVMe protocol and M.2 form factor with the cost efficiencies of 3D-NAND flash and industrial-temperature (I-Temp) support that enables drive endurance in environments ranging from -40Cº to 85Cº.
With industry-standard capacities ranging from 60GB to 2TB and support for AES-256 encryption, the new StorFly SSDs enable a wider range of industrial-grade solid-state storage for IIoT, machine-to-machine (M2M) and other embedded designs.  They take advantage of the powerful NVMe protocol; M.2’s small footprint, which conserves space and power; and multi-level-cell 3D NAND that yields higher densities at a lower cost per bit.
“The StorFly family of SSDs continues to evolve, providing the endurance, reliability and efficiencies designers require for their IIoT, M2M and industrial-embedded designs,” said Scott Phillips, Virtium vice president of marketing. “Blending 3D NAND, NVMe and I-Temp support into the family adds a new dimension of industrial-design readiness of StorFly drives.”
StorFly SSDs use only 3D NAND flash that can withstand the harsh environments in which Virtium drives are often deployed. With I-Temp support, the 3D NAND-based SSDs not only expand storage capacity in the same space as 2D NAND drives but they’re ensured of tolerating and operating reliably in extreme temperatures typical of IIoT, M2M and industrial-embedded systems.
StorFly’s M.2 form factors allow the drives to be deployed in space-constrained systems while drawing minimal power.  Compliant with the NVMe 1.3 and PCI Express 3.1 specifications, these new Virtium SSDs not only deliver high-speed data transfer but will auto-configure to support x1, x2 and x4 lanes, depending on the host system requirements.
As with all industrial SSDs in the StorFly family, these newly introduced drives include vtGuard®, vtSecure™, vtView®and vtTools™ — Virtium’s value-add software for data protection and solid-state storage monitoring, along with simplified qualification to help accelerate product certification.  These software modules provide users the ability to optimize, protect, manage and qualify Virtium SSDs.
